Step 1. The first thing to do is to prepare the tools and the materials needed for this project. The tools and materials are:
- Pliers
- Pen
- Glue
- Waxed cotton cord
- Wood burning tool
- Leather band sized 7 – 8 inches
Step 2. After the materials and the tools are ready, next step is to prepare the leather band. Take the leather band and wear it around your wrist. Make some adjustment on the length of the leather band by cutting it to make it fitted around the wrist of a person who will be receiving this leather bracelet later on.
If you want to write some words on the band, you can firstly write it using a pen. You can write any words that you think it is appropriate and will be loved by the recipient. You can also make some decorations on designs along with the words. Now, write the words in the band center and use the pen. Then, prepare the burning tool. Let it heated up and use it to engrave the words on the leather band. Use the universal point.
Step 3. To make the design or the decoration on the leather band, you can use particular design nib like a diamond design which has a tear drop point and stripes. If you don’t have any special design nip, you can always draw the design or decoration using the pen and then you can burn it using the universal nib.
Step 4. Take the universal nib and change the point into the diamond shaped nib with the help of pliers. After you change the nib, heat it first. Before applying the nib into the band, you can try applying on leftover band to see how long you need to press the nib to get the design. Once the preparation is ready, you can start applying the nib onto the leather band. Then, you can also use the tear drop nib onto the design. The project uses both diamond and tear drop shaped nib.
Step 5. Once the leather band is already filled with words and designs, you can start wrapping the leather band. Take the waxed cotton cord approximately 20” long and start making a loop at the end of the leather band. Apply some glue to make the loop strongly attached into the band with the shorter cord facing the other end.
Then, wrap the loop using the longer cord at least eight times. Insert the longer cord end into the loop. Pull the shorter cord to tighten the band loop. Cut the excess cord of the shorter loop. Take another cord and repeat the similar process to make one more loop on the other side of the band.
Step 6. Then, join each longer cord to make the sliding closing. You can make the square knot by taking 15” long of cord at one side and wrap it over the second cord end. The final result of the thread should be like in the picture.
Step 7. Your leather bracelet is ready. The look of your leather bracelet will be like the picture. Now, you can give it to your special friend.
